Houthi Rebels Target Saudi Oil Facilities and Airport in Najran In a significant escalation of hostilities, Houthi forces supported by Iran have launched attacks on the airport located in Najran, Saudi Arabia, as well as the Aramco oil company's facility in the region, as reported by AFP news agency. These strikes were confirmed by a Houthi military spokesperson, who disclosed that two successful drone operations targeted locations near the Yemen-Saudi border. According to the spokesperson, the primary focus of these assaults was a sensitive site at the Najran airport as well as the Aramco oil infrastructure. Prior to the attacks, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard had issued a warning to Saudi Arabia, suggesting that Houthi rebels might undertake offensive operations that Saudi defenses could struggle to counter. Yemen, ravaged by a civil war for over a decade, saw a breakdown of the ceasefire established in 2022 during the rising regional tensions in July. The Houthis have intensified their strike efforts against the Saudi-backed Yemeni government, while also moving to impose maritime blockades against Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, a Yemeni government official revealed to AFP that the Houthis are planning to secure areas near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a crucial global maritime route. Sources indicate that the rebels are attempting to extend their control southward from regions currently under their influence, heightening the risk of serious threats to international maritime navigation. Recent months have seen a resurgence of conflict following an Iranian aircraft's arrival in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, which reignited clashes between the two parties.
