නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කසළ කළමනාකරණය විධිමත් කරමින් පාරිසරික ගැටලුවකට විසඳුම් ලබාදීමේ අරමුණින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට නියමිත ‘පිවිතුරු පුරවර’ ජාතික කසළ කළමනාකරණ වැඩසටහනේ ඉදිරි සැලසුම් සම්බන්ධ විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවක් නුවරඑළිය මහ නගර සභා ශ්‍රවණාගාරයේදී පැවැත්විණි. සමස්ත දිවයිනේ කසළ ගැටලුවට ස්ථිර විසඳුම් ලබාදීමේ අරමුණින් වසර තුනක කාලයක් තුළ රුපියල් මිලියන 30,000කට අධික ප්‍රතිපාදන වෙන් කර ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති මෙම ජාතික වැඩසටහන ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතාගේ සංකල්පයකට අනුව ක්‍රියාත්මක වේ. රාජ්‍ය පරිපාලන, පළාත් සභා සහ පළාත් පාලන අමාත්‍යාංශයේ සහ ‘ක්ලීන් ශ්‍රී ලංකා’ ජාතික වැඩසටහනේ අධීක්ෂණය හා මෙහෙයවීම යටතේ දිවයිනේ සියලු පළාත් පාලන ආයතනවල සක්‍රීය දායකත්වයෙන් මෙම වැඩසටහන ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට නියමිතය. ලෝකයේ දියුණු රටවල අනුගමනය කරන විද්‍යාත්මක ක්‍රමවේදයන් ද සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් කසළ පාරිසරික හා සමාජීය ගැටලුවක් ලෙස නොව, ආර්‍ථික වටිනාකමක් සහිත සම්පතක් බවට පත් කිරීම මෙම වැඩසටහනේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණකි. ඒ අනුව, වර්‍තමානයේ ජනනය වන කසළ ප්‍රමාණය සහ එහි වර්‍ග පිළිබඳ නිවැරදි හා යාවත්කාලීන දත්ත පද්ධතියක් සකස් කර, එම දත්ත මත පදනම්ව ඉදිරියේදී ජනනය විය හැකි කසළ ප්‍රමාණය පිළිබඳ පුරෝකථනය කිරීමට නියමිතය. එම පුරෝකථන අනුව නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයට ගැළපෙන නවීන, විද්‍යාත්මක සහ ප්‍රායෝගික කසළ කළමනාකරණ විසඳුම් හඳුන්වාදීම මෙන්ම ඒවා වසර තුනක කාලයක් තුළ ක්‍රියාත්මක කර අවසන් කිරීම වැඩසටහනේ අපේක්ෂාව වී තිබේ. මේ අතර, නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සංවර්‍ධනය ඉලක්ක කරගත් ‘පුනරුදයේ පුරවර’ වැඩසටහන සම්බන්ධ කරුණු පිළිබඳවද මෙහිදී අවධානය යොමු කෙරිණි. - ආර්.එෆ්.එම්.සුහෙල් National Waste Management Initiative Discussed in Nuwara Eliya A special discussion was held at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council's auditorium to outline the future plans of the 'Pivithuru Pura' National Waste Management Program, aimed at addressing environmental challenges through effective waste management in the district. This national initiative, which seeks to provide sustainable solutions to the island-wide waste crisis, is backed by a budget exceeding 30 billion rupees set to be implemented over three years. The program is designed in line with concepts proposed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, as well as the 'Clean Sri Lanka' National Program, all provincial local government institutions are expected to actively contribute to the implementation of this initiative. One of the primary goals of the program is to transform waste from an environmental and social issue into an economically valuable resource by adopting scientific methodologies used in developed countries. To achieve this, a robust and updated data system is to be established to accurately assess the volume and types of waste currently generated. This data will help forecast future waste production. Based on these forecasts, the program aims to introduce modern, scientific, and practical waste management solutions tailored to the Nuwara Eliya district, with a plan to implement these solutions over a three-year timeframe. In addition, discussions also highlighted the 'Renovation of Urban Areas' initiative, which focuses on development within the Nuwara Eliya district. - R.F.M.
