රට තුළ පුනර්‍ජනනීය බල ශක්තිය සම්බන්ධ ප්‍රයත්නයන් සවිබල ගැන්වීම සඳහා වන අනුපූරක ව්‍යාපෘති වලට ආසියානු සංවර්‍ධන බැංකුවේ සුළු වියදම් මූල්‍යනය පහසුකම හර හා ඇමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 15 ක ණය මුදලක් ලබා ගැනීම පිණිස 2024-10-21 දින පැවති අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩල රැස්වීමේදී අනුමැතිය ලබා දී තිබේ. එම ණය මුදලින් මහ ඔය පොම්ප කළ ජල ගබඩා විදුලි බලාගාරය සංවර්‍ධනය කිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතියේ සවිස්තරාත්මක සැලසුම සහ ප්‍රසම්පාදන ලේඛන සකස් කිරීම පිණිස ඇමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 2.5ක් භාවිත කිරීම පිණිස 2025-09-03 දින පැවති අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩල රැස්වීමේදී අනුමැතිය ලබා දී ඇත. ඉතිරි ඇමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 12.5 ක ප්‍රතිපාදන උපයෝගි කර ගනිමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සුහුරු ජාල නවීකරණය කිරීමේ මුලික ක්‍රියාමාර්‍ගයෙහි අංගයක් ලෙස භාවිත කෙරෙන කාලය පාදක (Time - of - Use) බිල්පත් ක්‍රමයක් සහිත යෝජිත සුහුරු මනු පද්ධති (Smart Meters) 300,000ක් ස්ථාපනය කිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට යෝජනා කරනු ලැබ ඇත. ඒ අනුව, වසර 02 ක කාල සීමාවක් තුළ එකී ව්‍යාපෘතිය ඉලෙක්ට්‍රි සිටි ඩිස් ස්ට්‍රි බියුෂන් ලංකා (ප්‍රයිවට්) ලිමිටඩ් විසින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම පිණිස බල ශක්ති අමාත්‍යතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී. ADB Approves $15 Million Loan for Renewable Energy Projects in Sri Lanka The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has secured approval for a $15 million loan aimed at enhancing initiatives related to renewable energy in the country. This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on October 21, 2024. Of the approved funds, $2.5 million will be allocated for the development of detailed plans and procurement documents for the Mahaweli River pumped storage hydroelectric project. This allocation received the green light from the Cabinet on September 3, 2025. The remaining $12.5 million will finance the initial steps of upgrading the power distribution network across Sri Lanka, which includes the installation of 300,000 smart meters equipped with time-of-use billing systems. This proposal aims to modernize the country's energy infrastructure. The Cabinet also endorsed a proposal presented by the Minister of Power to let the private company Electricity Supply Distribution Lanka undertake the project over a two-year timeframe. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
