ජනපති සමග සාකච්චාව අවසන්.. එකගතාවක් නෑ..- නීතීඥ සභාපති

යෝජිත ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකා නීතිඥ සංගමයේ නියෝජිතයින් අතර පැවති සාකච්ඡාව කිසිදු අවසන් එකඟතාවයකින් තොරව අවසන් වූ බව එම සංගමයේ සභාපති, ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නීතිඥ රජිවු අමරසූරිය මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය. මෙම සාකච්ඡාව ජනාධිපතිවරයාගේ ආරාධනයකට අනුව පැවැත්වුණු අතර එහිදී විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස ඉහළ නැංවීමට අදාළ ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය පිළිබඳව දීර්ඝ වශයෙන් කරුණු සාකච්ඡා වී තිබේ. සාකච්ඡාවෙන් අනතුරුව මාධ්‍ය වෙත අදහස් දක්වමින් සභාපතිවරයා අවධාරණය කළේ, මෙම සංශෝධනය සම්බන්ධයෙන් නීතිඥ සංගමය දරන ස්ථාවරය ජනාධිපතිවරයා වෙත පැහැදිලිව ඉදිරිපත් කළ බවයි. එසේම ජනාධිපතිවරයා ද සිය අදහස් ඉදිරිපත් කළ නමුත් දෙපාර්ශවය අතර පොදු එකඟතාවයකට පැමිණීමට නොහැකි වූ බව ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය. මෙවැනි තීරණාත්මක ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනයක් සිදු කිරීමට පෙර නීතිඥවරුන් පමණක් නොව, විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ආචාර්යවරුන් සහ පර්යේෂකයන් ඇතුළු විද්වත් පිරිස් සමග පුළුල් සංවාදයක් පැවැත්විය යුතු බව නීතිඥ සංගමයේ ඉල්ලීම බව ද අමරසූරිය මහතා මෙහිදී පැවසීය. මෙය කිසිසේත්ම පුද්ගලික ගැටුමක් හෝ සටනක් නොවන බවත්, අධිකරණයේ ස්වාධීනත්වය සහ නීතියේ ආධිපත්‍යය සුරැකීම වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටීම තම සංගමයේ වගකීම බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය. රජයකට ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය කිරීමට බලය තිබුණද, එහි ඇති දෝෂ සහගත තැන් පෙන්වා දීමට තමන්ට අයිතියක් ඇති බව ද සභාපතිවරයා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේය. ඉදිරියේදී මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් තවදුරටත් විද්වත් සාකච්ඡා පවත්වා යහපත් තීරණයකට එළඹීමට හැකි වනු ඇතැයි තමන් බලාපොරොත්තු වන බව ද රජිවු අමරසූරිය මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය. Presidential Talks on Constitutional Amendments End Without Consensus The recent discussions between President and representatives of the Sri Lanka Bar Association regarding proposed constitutional amendments concluded without a shared agreement, as stated by the association's president, senior lawyer Rajive Amarasuriya. Initiated at the request of the President, the meeting focused extensively on potential amendments related to raising the retirement age for judges. In comments to the media following the meeting, Amarasuriya emphasized that the Bar Association clearly articulated its stance on the proposed changes to the President. Although the President expressed his viewpoints, Amarasuriya noted that neither party managed to reach a mutual agreement during the discussions. He highlighted the Bar Association's position that prior to implementing such significant constitutional reforms, it is crucial to engage in broader dialogues not only with lawyers but also with university academics and researchers. Amarasuriya clarified that this is not merely a personal dispute or conflict but rather a responsibility of the association to uphold judicial independence and the supremacy of the law. He also pointed out that while the government has the authority to amend the constitution, the Bar Association retains the right to indicate any flawed aspects within it.
