2026-07-22 දින පවත්වනු ලැබ ඇති 34 වන ආහාර ප‍්‍රතිපත්ති හා සුරක්ෂිතතා කමිටු රැස්වීමේදී රජය මඟින් වී මිල දී ගැනීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය සඳහා පහසුකම් සැලසීම අරමුණු කර ගනිමින් වී අලෙවි මණ්ඩලය සතු වී තොග, සමුපකාර තොග වෙළෙඳ සංස්ථාව මඟින් සහල් බවට පත් කර වෙළෙඳ පොළට නිකුත් කිරීමට නිර්දේශ කරනු ලැබ තිබේ. ඒ අනුව, එකී නිර්දේශ මත පදනම්ව පහත සඳහන් පරිදි පියවර ගැනීම පිණිස කෘෂිකර්ම, පශු සම්පත්, ඉඩම් සහ වාරි මාර්ග අමාත්‍යතුමා; සහ වෙළෙඳ, වාණිජ, ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතා සහ සමුපකාර සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ ඒකාබද්ධ යෝජනාව අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී. වී අලෙවි මණ්ඩලය සතු වී තොගයෙන් වී මෙට්‍රික්ටොන් 30,000ක් සමුපකාර තොග වෙළෙඳ සංස්ථාව මඟින් සහල් බවට පත් කිරීම. වී මෙට්‍රික්ටොන් 30,000ක් සහල් බවට පත් කර කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 5, කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 10, කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 25 සහ කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 50 ඇසුරුම් ලෙස සැපයීම සඳහා සමුපකාර තොග වෙළෙඳ සංස්ථාව විසින්, වී අලෙවි මණ්ඩලය යටතේ ලියාපදිංචි වී ඇති වී මෝල් හිමියන් වෙතින් අභිලාෂ කැඳවීම. 2025-12-15 දිනැති අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩල තීරණය අනුව වී අලෙවි මණ්ඩලය, සමූපකාර තොග වෙළෙඳ සංස්ථාව, සීමාසහිත ලංකා සතොස, ජාතික පසු අස්වනු කළමනා කරණ ආයතනය සහ හෙක්ටර් කොබ්බෑකඩුව ගොවි කටයුතු පර්යේෂණ හා පුහුණු ආයතනය යන ආයතනවල නිලධාරීන්ගෙන් සමන්විතව පත් කරනු ලැබ ඇති මිල කමිටුව විසින් වී, සහල් බවට පරිවර්තන අනුපාතය සහ සහල් සඳහා සුදුසු මිල තීරණය කිරීම. ඉහත පරිදි නිෂ්පාදනය කරනු ලබන සහල් සීමාසහිත ලංකා සතොස, සමූපකාර ජාලය සහ පුද්ගලික පාර්ශ්වයන් මඟින් වෙළෙඳ පොළට නිකුත් කිරීම. Government Approves Strategic Measures for Rice Distribution in Sri Lanka The 34th meeting of the Food Policy and Security Committee, held on July 22, 2026, yielded significant recommendations aimed at facilitating the procurement process for rice. The government is set to leverage stocks owned by the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation to convert paddy into rice for market distribution. A comprehensive proposal, presented by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation, along with the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, received approval from the Cabinet. This initiative is a direct response to enhance food security in the country. The State Trading Corporation will process 30,000 metric tons of paddy into rice from the existing stocks held by the Sri Lanka Rice Milling Corporation. Provision of rice in various packaging options of 5 kg, 10 kg, 25 kg, and 50 kg will be undertaken by the State Trading Corporation, targeting registered rice mill owners under the Sri Lanka Rice Milling Corporation for sourcing. In line with a Cabinet decision dated December 15, 2025, a pricing committee, composed of officials from the Sri Lanka Rice Milling Corporation, the State Trading Corporation, limited company Sathosa, the National Agricultural Development Authority, and the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute, has been tasked with determining the conversion ratios for rice and establishing a suitable price for the market. The rice produced through this initiative will be distributed to the market by limited company Sathosa, cooperative networks, and private entities. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
