විනිසුරු වයස ගැන මහනාහිමිවරැ ජනපතිට යැවූ ලිපියක් ගැන මං දන්නෑ..- අධිකරණ ඇමති

විනිසුරුවන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස ඉහළ නැංවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් මහනායක හිමිවරුන් විසින් ජනාධිපතිවරයා වෙත යොමු කළ බව කියන ලිපිය පිළිබඳව තමන් මෙතෙක් දැනුවත් වී නොමැති බව අධිකරණ, බන්ධනාගාර කටයුතු හා ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ අමාත්‍ය හර්ෂණ නානායක්කාර මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය. අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව කියා සිටියේ විනිසුරුවන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස සංශෝධනය කිරීමේ පනත් කෙටුම්පත සම්බන්ධයෙන් මාධ්‍ය වෙත අදහස් දක්වමිනි. එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ අමාත්‍යවරයා සඳහන් කළේ අදාළ ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධන පනත් කෙටුම්පත මේ වන විට ගැසට් පත්‍රයේ ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කර ඇති බවයි. මෙම ක්‍රියාවලිය පිළිබඳව ආගමික නායකයින් දැනුවත් කිරීමේ අරමුණින් මල්වතු - අස්ගිරි මහා නාහිමිවරුන් සහ කාදිනල්තුමන් ඇතුළු නායක පූජකවරුන් හමුවී සාකච්ඡා කළ බවත්, එහිදී ජනතාවට යහපතක් වන දේ පමණක් සිදු කරන ලෙස තමන්ට උපදෙස් ලැබුණු බවත් ඔහු පැවසීය. පසුගිය සතියේ මල්වතු සහ අස්ගිරි පාර්ශවයේ මහා නාහිමිවරුන් විසින් ජනාධිපතිවරයා වෙත යොමු කළ බව කියන ලිපිය පිළිබඳව මාධ්‍යවේදීන් නැගූ ප්‍රශ්නයකට පිළිතුරු දෙමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙසේ පැවසීය. "එවැනි ලිපියක් පිළිබඳව මම දැනුවත් නැහැ. ජනාධිපතිවරයා ඒ පිළිබඳව මට කිසිවක් පවසා නැහැ. ඒ නිසා ඒ ගැන අදහස් දැක්වීමට මට නොහැකියි." නීතිඥ සංගමය සහ විපක්ෂය මෙම පනතට එරෙහිව දක්වන විරෝධය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා කියා සිටියේ, ඕනෑම නීතියක් සම්පාදනය කිරීමේදී විවිධ මතවාද ඉදිරිපත් වීම සාමාන්‍ය තත්ත්වයක් බවයි. විපක්ෂයට සහ වෘත්තීය සමිතිවලට තමන් දරන මතය ජනතාව හමුවේ තැබීමට අයිතියක් ඇති බවත්, පනත් කෙටුම්පත ගැසට් කිරීමේ අරමුණම ඒ පිළිබඳව විවෘත සංවාදයකට ඉඩ සැලසීම බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය. විශ්‍රාම යන වයස ඉහළ දැමීම හරහා විපක්ෂය මර්දනය කිරීමට උත්සාහ කරන බවට එල්ල වන චෝදනා ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළ අමාත්‍යවරයා, විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස වැඩි කිරීමෙන් විපක්ෂය මර්දනය වන්නේ කෙසේදැයි තමන්ට වටහාගත නොහැකි බවද පවසා සිටියේය. Minister Denies Knowledge of Judicial Retirement Age Proposal The Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs, and Constitutional Reforms, Harshana Rajakaruna, has stated that he is not aware of any proposal regarding the increase of the retirement age for judges that has allegedly been directed to the President by religious leaders. Speaking to the media about the proposed amendments to the legislation concerning the retirement age of judges, the minister emphasized that the relevant constitutional amendment bill has already been published in the gazette. He further revealed that discussions were held with the leading religious figures, including the chief monks of the Malwathu and Asgiriya chapters, and cardinal representatives, with the aim of keeping these leaders informed about the process. During these discussions, he received guidance to undertake measures that would benefit the general public. Addressing questions from journalists regarding the letter reportedly sent to the President by the chief monks of the Malwathu and Asgiriya factions last week, the minister clarified, "I am not aware of such a letter. The President has not communicated anything to me regarding this matter, so I cannot comment further." In relation to the opposition and the legal community's concerns regarding this legislation, the minister noted that it is common for diverse opinions to be expressed when drafting any law. He reiterated that both the opposition and professional associations have the right to voice their perspectives publicly and highlighted that the publication of the bill in the gazette is intended to facilitate an open dialogue on the subject. Amid allegations that the increase in the retirement age is an attempt to suppress the opposition, the minister dismissed such claims, stating that he cannot comprehend how raising the retirement age of judges could lead to the suppression of opposition. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
