කොත්මලේ ගාමිණී දිසානායක ජලාශයේ ජල මට්ටම පසු ගිය පැය 12 ක කාලය තුල ස්ථාවර මට්ටමක පැවතිම සහ (07) දින වන විට ජලාශයට ජලය එකතුවෙන සීඝ්‍රතාවයන් අඩු වීම හේතුවෙන් ජලාශයේ වාන් දොරටු සියල්ල වැසීම මගින් ජලය නිදහස් කිරීම නවත්වා ඇති බව ජලාශය භාර ඉංජිනේරු අනුර සෙනවිරත්න මහතා පැවසීය. කෙසේ නමුදු, ඉදිරියේදී ජලාශයට එකතුවෙන ජලය හේතුවෙන් ජලාශය එහි උපරිම ජල මට්ටම් කරා ලගා වන අවස්ථාවහිදී විටින් විට ජලාශයෙන් ජලය නිකුත් කිරීමට සිදු වන බවත් පැවසු ජලාශය භාර ඉංජිනේරුවරයා සදහන් කලේ එම අවස්තාවල ජලාශයට පහල කොත්මලා ඔයේ සහ මහවැලි ගඟේ ජල මට්ටම් වැඩි වීමක් සිදු විය හැකි බවයි. ඒ පිළිබඳව අවධානයෙන් සිට කටයුතු කරන ලෙස කොත්මලේ ජලාශයේ කාර්යභාර ඉංජිනේරු අනුර සේනවිරත්න මහතා තවදුරටත් පැවසීය. ඉදිරියේදි ඇතිවිය හැකි එල්නීනෝ තත්වය ඇතුළු පරිසරික බලපෑම් පිළිබඳව සැලකිල්ලට ගෙන මෙලෙස ජලාශයේ ජල මට්ටම කළමනාකරණය කිරිම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය කරුණකි. Kotmale Reservoir Water Level Stabilized Amid Reduced Inflows The water level at the Kotmale Gamini Dissanayake Reservoir has remained stable over the past 12 hours. Anura Senavirathna, the chief engineer in charge of the reservoir, reported that all gates have been closed to prevent the release of water, following a decrease in the flow of water into the reservoir expected by the 7th of this month. However, Senavirathna warned that as water begins to accumulate in the reservoir again, there will be a need to release water routinely when levels approach maximum capacity. He noted that this could potentially lead to increased water levels in the Kotmale Oya and the Mahaweli River. The chief engineer urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and take appropriate action regarding these developments.
