Government Minister Calls for Urgent Resolution of Legal Barriers to Provincial Council Elections Health and Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa emphasized the necessity for immediate action to eliminate existing legal obstacles preventing the conduct of provincial council elections. He stated that such elections cannot proceed merely at the government's or the President's discretion. Speaking during an interview with Hiru News, the Minister pointed out that, for the first time in history, current government ministers have openly declared their assets and liabilities to the public. He also indicated that the government is looking to implement legal amendments to enhance the efficiency of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. Addressing practical issues surrounding the provincial council elections, the Minister clarified that proper legal procedures must be established for the elections to take place, and boundary delimitation processes must be finalized.
