මහර බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රය තුළ අද (01) පස්වරුවේ හටගත් දැඩි නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වයක් හේතුවෙන් තුවාල ලැබූ රැඳවියන් අතරින් එක් අයෙකු ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්ව තිබේ. බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ ඇති වූ මෙම ගැටුම්කාරී වාතාවරණයත් සමඟ තුවාල ලැබූ රැඳවියන් හත් දෙනෙකු කඩිනමින් රාගම ශික්ෂණ රෝහල වෙත ඇතුළත් කිරීමට පියවර ගෙන තිබූ අතර, එහිදී ප්‍රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටි එක් රැඳවියෙකු මෙලෙස මියගොස් ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ. මෙම නොසන්සුන්තාවය අතරතුර බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රයේ පිහිටි ගොඩනැගිල්ලක ගින්නක් ද හටගෙන ඇත. තත්ත්වය තවදුරටත් පාලනය කිරීම සහ බන්ධනාගාරයේ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම සඳහා පොලිසිය සහ පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකායේ (STF) කණ්ඩායම් කිහිපයක් බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රයෙන් පිටත ආරක්ෂක රාජකාරි සඳහා වහාම කැඳවීමට බලධාරීන් පියවර ගෙන ඇත. මේ වන විටත් තුවාල ලැබූ තවත් රැඳවියන් සිව්දෙනෙකු රාගම ශික්ෂණ රෝහලේ නේවාසිකව ප්‍රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටින බව වැඩිදුරටත් වාර්තා වේ. Tragic Incident at Mahara Prison: One Inmate Dead Amid Unrest This afternoon, Mahara Prison was engulfed in turmoil, resulting in the tragic death of one inmate amidst a violent disturbance. Reports indicate that several individuals suffered injuries during the unrest. Following the eruption of violence within the prison, seven injured inmates were swiftly transported to the Ragama Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. It has been confirmed that one of these inmates succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment. In the midst of this chaos, a fire broke out in a building located within the prison premises, further compounding the situation. Authorities have responded by deploying multiple squads from the police and the Special Task Force (STF) to secure the area and manage the ongoing unrest effectively.
