මහර බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රයේ ඊයේ (29) ඇති වූ නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා ආරක්ෂක අංශ මේ වන විට පූර්ණ මැදිහත්වීමක් සිදු කර ඇත. බන්ධනාගාරයේ පාලනය සහ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කිරීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොලිසිය, ත්‍රිවිධ හමුදාව, බන්ධනාගාර දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සහ පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකාය එක්ව ඒකාබද්ධ මෙහෙයුමක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කර තිබේ. බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රයේ ආරක්ෂාව තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් කිරීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද හමුදාවේ සන්නද්ධ රථ මෙන්ම ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොලිසියේ ජල ප්‍රහාරක රථ ද එම ස්ථානයට කැඳවා ඇත. ඊයේ රාත්‍රී කාලයේදී බන්ධනාගාරය ඉදිරිපිට රැඳවියන්ගේ ඥාතීන් විශාල පිරිසක් රැස්ව සිටි අතර, පවතින තත්ත්වය සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් ප්‍රදේශයේ ග්‍රාම සේවා වසම් තුනකට වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක වන පරිදි ඇඳිරි නීතිය පැනවීමට බලධාරීන් පියවර ගෙන තිබුණි. ඒ සමඟම ආරක්ෂක අංශ මැදිහත් වී බන්ධනාගාර පිවිසුම අසල රැස්ව සිටි පිරිස විසිරුවා හැරීමට කටයුතු කර ඇත. ඊයේ රාත්‍රියේ බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රය තුළින් කළු දුමාරයක් මතු වී ඇති අතර, අද අලුයම 3:00 ට පමණ බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ සිට පිටතට ගල් මුල් ප්‍රහාර එල්ල වී තිබේ. මෙම ප්‍රහාර හේතුවෙන් බන්ධනාගාරය අවට පිහිටි නිවාස කිහිපයකට ද අලාභහානි සිදුව ඇති බව නිරීක්ෂණය වී ඇත. මේ වන විටත් ආරක්ෂක අංශ බන්ධනාගාරය අවට ප්‍රදේශයේ දැඩි මුර සංචාරයේ යෙදෙමින් පවතින අතර, තත්ත්වය පාලනය කර සාමය තහවුරු කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය සියලු පියවර ගෙන ඇති බව ආරක්ෂක අංශ වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කරයි. A collaborative operation has been set in motion, involving the Sri Lanka Police, the Tri-Forces, the Department of Prisons, and the Special Task Force of the police to affirm control and security within the prison premises. As part of the intensified security measures, armored vehicles from the Sri Lanka Army alongside water cannons from the police have been deployed to the area to bolster protection. During the previous evening, a considerable crowd of relatives of inmates gathered outside the prison, prompting officials to impose a curfew in three nearby Grama Seva divisions to manage the situation effectively. In addition to this, security forces intervened to disperse the gathering near the prison entrance, prioritizing safety and order. Smoke was reported rising from within the prison premises last night, and shortly after 3:00 AM today, stones were hurled from inside the facility towards surrounding residential areas, resulting in damage to several nearby homes.
