In an effort to maintain peace and prevent further criminal activities, police have implemented curfews that will take immediate effect in several areas under the jurisdiction of local police officers, as outlined in the Criminal Procedure Code. This curfew will apply to the Grama Niladhari divisions of 246 Kandaliyadda Paluwa West, 246C Kandaliyadda Paluwa North, and 181G Damuw. Authorities are urging residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during this period of heightened tension. Should it's absolutely necessary to go outside for essential services, residents are advised to seek assistance from the designated police officers in the area, Wutler noted. Furthermore, the public is encouraged to report any instances of illegal or suspicious activities to the nearest police station immediately. The tumultuous situation has already resulted in injuries to six individuals, with one person confirmed dead. The matter has been reported to the Welisara Magistrate's Court, which has since issued directives to halt the unrest among inmates and ensure that prison authorities receive the necessary support. Wutler emphasized that the Sri Lanka Police, along with the Special Task Force and the Tri-Forces, are actively engaged in operations to guarantee public peace and security. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
