"කුකුළෙකුගේ කකුල් දෙකක් ඩොලර් 7ක් පමණ වෙනවා. වත්මන් විනිමය අනුපාත අනුව එය රුපියල් 2,000කට අධික වටිනාකමක්. මෙය අපේ රටේ කුකුළු පාලන කර්මාන්තයට ලැබෙන ඉතා ඉහළ අගය එකතු කිරීමක්," යැයි ද නාමල් කරුණාරත්න මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය. මෙම නව කර්මාන්ත ශාලා විවෘත කිරීමත් සමඟ මෙතෙක් අපතේ ගිය කුකුළු කකුල් වැනි අතුරු නිෂ්පාදන හරහා මෙරටට විශාල විදේශ විනිමයක් උපයා ගැනීමට හැකි වනු ඇතැයි රජය අපේක්ෂා කරයි. New Poultry Facilities Set to Boost Chicken Exports in Sri Lanka In a significant move to enhance the local poultry industry, several new factories targeting the export of chicken meat and chicken feet are expected to open in the coming months, according to Namal Karunaratne, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Resources. This initiative, driven by private sector involvement, aims to prepare chicken products in accordance with international standards before packaging and dispatching them to foreign markets. Karunaratne noted that the production process will intelligently manage microbial activities to ensure high-quality exports. Given the immense demand for chicken feet in countries like China, a dedicated factory is also set to be established to cater to this market. Highlighting the significant value in international trade, the minister revealed that the current market price for chicken feet is approximately $3.50. He elaborated, "The price for two chicken feet is around $7, which, based on the current exchange rate, exceeds 2,000 Sri Lankan Rupees. This represents a substantial value addition to our poultry sector." With the opening of these new factories, the government anticipates that the country will be able to achieve substantial foreign exchange earnings through the export of by-products like chicken feet, previously considered a waste. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
