රජයේ උපාය මාර්ගික සංවර්ධන සැලසුම්වලට අනුව 2030 වසර අවසන් වන විට මෙරට අධිවේගී මාර්ග පද්ධතියට අලුතින් කිලෝමීටර් 132ක් එක් කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා බව අමාත්‍ය බිමල් රත්නායක මහතා පවසයි. අධිවේගී මාර්ග ව්‍යාපෘති හතරක ඉදිකිරීම් අවසන් වීමත් සමඟ මෙම කිලෝමීටර් 132ක ප්‍රමාණය ජාතික මාර්ග පද්ධතියට එක්වීමට නියමිතය. මේ වන විට ඉදිකිරීම් මට්ටමේ පවතින මධ්‍යම අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ පළමු අදියර වන කඩවත සිට මීරිගම දක්වා වූ කිලෝමීටර් 37ක කොටස සහ එහි තෙවන අදියර වන පොතුහැර සිට ගලගෙදර දක්වා වූ කිලෝමීටර් 33ක කොටස මෙලෙස කඩිනමින් නිම කිරීමට අපේක්ෂිතය. මීට අමතරව, කුරුණෑගල සිට දඹුල්ල දක්වා වූ අධිවේගී මාර්ග ව්‍යාපෘතියේ පළමු කොටස වන කුරුණෑගල - ගලේවෙල මාර්ගයේ ඉදිකිරීම් 2026 වසර අවසන් වීමට පෙර ආරම්භ කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත. කිලෝමීටර් 38ක දුරකින් යුත් මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා රුපියල් බිලියන 233ක මුදලක් ඇස්තමේන්තු කර තිබේ. විනිවිදභාවයකින් යුත් තරගකාරී මිල ගණන් යටතේ ටෙන්ඩර් කැඳවා, පැකේජ 12ක් යටතේ දේශීය ඉදිකිරීම් සමාගම්වල සේවා දායකත්වයෙන් මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය කඩිනමින් නිම කිරීමට රජය අපේක්ෂා කරයි. එසේම, රුවන්පුර අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ කිලෝමීටර් 24ක කොටසක ඉදිකිරීම් ද මේ වසර තුළදීම ආරම්භ කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය කටයුතු සූදානම් කර ඇති බව බිමල් රත්නායක මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය. මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිවල ඇති විශේෂත්වය වන්නේ, රජයේ උපාය මාර්ගික සංවර්ධන සැලසුම්වලට අනුකූලව ප්‍රථම වතාවට ශ්‍රී ලංකා රජයේ දේශීය අරමුදල් පමණක් මේ සඳහා වැය කිරීමට තීරණය කර තිබීම බව ද ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය. ඒ අනුව විදේශීය ණය මත යැපීමකින් තොරව දේශීය ශක්තියෙන් මෙම සංවර්ධන කටයුතු ඉදිරියට ගෙන යාම රජයේ අරමුණ වී තිබේ. Sri Lanka to Expand Highway Network by 132 Kilometers by 2030 The government of Sri Lanka is set to add 132 kilometers to its highway system by the end of 2030, as revealed by Minister Bimal Ratnayake. This initiative is part of the country’s strategic development plans. Upon the completion of four ongoing highway projects, this 132-kilometer extension will be integrated into the national road network. The first phase of construction, spanning 37 kilometers from Kadawatha to Mirigama on the central expressway, is expected to be expedited, alongside the third phase, which runs for 33 kilometers from Pothuhara to Galagedara. Additionally, plans are in place to commence construction of the first section of the Kurunegala to Dambulla expressway, covering 38 kilometers, before the end of 2026, with an allocated budget of 233 billion rupees for the project. The government anticipates completing this venture swiftly through local construction companies, made possible by inviting tenders under a competitive pricing framework within Package 12. Minister Ratnayake also indicated that arrangements are underway to initiate construction on a 24-kilometer section of the Ruwanpura expressway within this year. Notably, this series of projects represents a significant shift in funding strategy, as the government has decided to rely solely on domestic resources for these developments, aligning with its strategic development goals.
